How The Day Unfolded
A ceremonial beginning to an important racing occasion
Guests travelling from America were attending Royal Ascot to watch several of their horses compete. Their Royal Enclosure hospitality was already arranged, but they wanted their arrival to feel as memorable and distinctly British as the occasion itself.
Inspired by Britain’s ceremonial carriage tradition, their brief was to incorporate a privately commissioned carriage arrival into an otherwise carefully planned race day.
Their experience began with chauffeur collection from Claridge’s in London. Throughout the journey, our team liaised directly with the chauffeurs and monitored their anticipated arrival time.
Rather than travelling directly into the congestion surrounding the racecourse, the guests were brought to our private hospitality venue close to Ascot, an arrangement reserved exclusively for Treadgold Brock and our guests.
Here, they were welcomed by their dedicated host and invited to enjoy light pre-departure hospitality in a relaxed setting reminiscent of Royal Ascot’s celebrated private car-park entertaining, but created solely for their party.
Their professional coachmen and traditional Landau carriages were waiting nearby. Dating from the same broad carriage-making tradition seen in Britain’s great ceremonial occasions, they provided an elegant and historically appropriate way to complete the approach to the racecourse.
Every movement had been planned in advance, from the London departure and private hospitality to the carriage timings and final approach to Royal Ascot. On arrival, our host personally handed the party into the care of the Royal Ascot private concierge team.
Our involvement continued after racing. The guests were met following the final race and guided to their waiting chauffeurs for the evening journey back to Claridge’s.
